About
Looking at me you may not think I bring over 20 years of digital experience to the table. From managing Bulletin Board Systems on the Freenet in 1990 to starting one of Canada’s first blogs in 1995 to public speaking in 2010 I’ve truly grown up digital. Over those 20+ years I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to manage the digital and social media marketing for small startups, multi-national industry leaders and some of the biggest names in entertainment and consumer packaged goods.
As the digital world has grown more social I’ve found myself fascinated by the opportunities it presents to all companies, small and large. The same Internet that was once a global burden on a small business now offers location-based marketing opportunities that are contextually relevant to their audience. Still, for many companies this opportunity is difficult to understand and exploit, and helping them build socially-aware web presences that work as well on a smartphone as they do on a laptop is my passion.
Oh, and what really gets me up? Coffee. So hit me up on Twitter or check in to Rick Jessup’s desk on Foursquare (it’s actually there), the java’s on me. And in case we need a few conversation starters, here’s what you need to know about me: I’m on a quest to find the world’s greatest beer, while simultaneously attempting to visit every ballpark in Major League Baseball. I can cook at a professional level, have been offered money for my photography, can complete a 5k in under 25 minutes and will one day retire with my guitar to the beach in Mexico.
